ok... so.... steampunk and AppleDash combined You didn't expect that, did you? this is a birthday gift for Happy Birthday, RoRo I hope you'll like it if not, that it's all Mach's fault because I was asking him about your favorite things and he said AppleDash (amoung other things) Anyways, I hope you had fun today Best wishes and stuff
I find the dark, romantic atmosphere very appealing and the smoky effect that envelops the main subjects enhances the emotions you are expressing. Overall, you've shown creativity by combining the theme of love with steampunk and have visually depicted it in a very beautiful style.
However, while I enjoy the setting and the way you have posed these ponies, it doesn't show the steampunk style as much as it could have. Although I notice Rainbow's goggles and various accessories, it can be made more distinguishable as steampunk and also make the piece more eye-catching.
Experiment with crazy ideas! Steampunk is all about dials, pipes, gears, springs and other MECHANICAL components being used for the visual appearance. One nice and perhaps overused method of doing this is a synthetic limb, and that always captures the viewer.

First time i am writing a critique, so i hope i'm doing it right.
That's one fantastic picture you got there. You got the vibrant color in RD's and AJ's fur in a sharp contrast to the brown and foggy steampunk word arround them clearly highlighting them without the contrast being too gaudy. It really makes the mstand out as a "beacon" of love in the gloomy steampunk world. Unfortunately AppleDash is, if not The most comon, then at least one of the most comon shippings in the MLP fanfiction, both in therms of visual art and in fanfiction. However you do manage to place them in a context that you rarely see them, and you suceeded with it. That counts to your advantage. Then again; it's a comon ship. Your technique is at first glance simple yet efficient. You create lively colors, and manages to balance the contrast between the vibrant colors and the background. Your true talent is displayed in the way you made Rainbow Dash's hair, and the mist in the background. You apply lots of detail in them, and makes every single hair and curling in the mist stand out. The impact from the image is not so strong as it could have been, again because AppleDash is a fairly comon ship. What enhances the impact is thier expressions. It really loooks ike Rainbow Dash really loves Applejack, and Applejack seems to feel really unsure of herself. She do seem to want Rainbow Dash too, but it appears that there's something holding her back. Doubht perhaps? That creates a depth in the picture that's hard to achieve. Furthermore the conext you put them in prooves that they can be shipped in any context; even steampunk.
Awwwww, thank you so much! They look just ubercute together. Love AJ's mane swirls. I love swirls in general. You just combined one of my favourite pairings, steampunk, giant wings and friggin' swirls. All my love.
yay! combo I wasn't really sure of the AJ/RD pairing since...well... most of the comments I got here were "Appledash is not my thing, but..." and I didn't see anything like that from you. But, I'm really happy it was a good choice As for the swirls... to be honest they were a result of my frustration after failing to draw AJ's hair like you did on your picture of her... but the final effect was much better than I initially hoped for... I need to d that more often Once again, I'm really happy you like it and I hope you have an awesome birthday
